Game of Thrones has been a difficult and persistent show, and it’s been particularly hard on its principle characters. A considerable lot of the show’s biggest and baddest characters have kicked the bucket, yet a few, like our favorite Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams), have needed to settle on some intense choices and do some repulsive things keeping in mind the end goal to survive.
Arya’s story is a grim one, loaded with death and murder, and season seven nearly observed her turn into a miscreant, which Maisie opened up about in a recent sitdown with ELLE UK.
“I think until last season [seven], Arya was always killing the baddies. But then we saw her start to use those manipulative powers. It’s not until she had that whole dialogue with her sister Sansa in the last season that you realise what she’s become, that she’s being awful to someone who we love.”
“For me, it was a really great moment as an actor to be able to play the character you love as a baddie. It felt so amazing, even though it’s an awful scene.”
Maisie additionally teased how the show may end for Arya and her experience working with her now best friend, Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark.
“She [Arya] rights her wrongs in the end. Also, Sophie is my best friend. Who gets to be on set with their best friend? Me! We lift each other up.”
Maisie also revealed her end goal with Game of Thrones.
“Season one to eight, that’s what I wanted. I was in the first episode, and I want to be in the last.”
She also recently posted a picture to her Instagram with a similar hint, with which she might have revealed Arya’s fate in the final season of the show.
#lastwomanstanding ? Well, certainly hope so! I will be amazing if Arya is the only person left at the end of the show, or at least the last person who can sit on the throne, and Maisie seems to have hinted at just this.
We’ll find out when Game of Thrones Seaosn 8 drops in 2019.
