Maisie Williams reveals that 2019 was the year she fell in love with a boy and fell in love with herself

She went official with her bond to Reuben Selby back in June.  Also, Maisie Williams paid accolade to her beau in an Instagram post on Wednesday as she thought back on the ‘greatest’ year she has had. The Game Of Thrones star, 22, wrote in the post that 2019 was the year she ‘fell in love with a boy’ and ‘fell in love with myself’ as she looked forward to 2020.

She gushed: ‘This year was the best. I fell in love with a boy and I fell in love with myself. I started saying “no”. I stopped worrying about the past, i stopped wishing for the future, and I started loving life for what it is today – because “today is a gift, that is why they call it “the present”. I made time to do more of the things that bring me joy.

Maisie proceeded to joke that 2020 would be loaded up with ‘tending our pot plant children’ alongside a photo of her and Reuben enclosed by many plants.

2020 will probably be filled with more days spent tending our pot plant children which sounds perfect to me,‘ she added. ‘For anyone who needs to hear this: it starts with you and the changes you’re willing to make. It’s out there for you to take. so don’t just seize the day, seize your life. happy new year.

Maisie’s Game Of Thrones co-star Lena Headey, who played villain Cersei Lannister in the series, responded with a series of heart and smiley face emojis. Maisie and Reuben first flashed romance rumours in February after they were spotted wandering around New York City holding hands.

She seemed to make the relationship official after he accompanied her to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s French wedding back in June, posting a photograph of them together on Instagram. From that point forward they have gone from strength-to-strength and often post loved-up updates on their respective Instagram pages.

Their relationship came following Maisie’s break up from her long-term boyfriend, Ollie Jackson. The star’s post comes after she disclosed in October she felt ‘ashamed’ at the fact she had to change her appearance on Game Of Thrones. The actress, who played Arya Stark on the series from the age of 11, started to go through teens while starring in the hit HBO show.

Speaking to Vogue about the lengths production went to so as to keep her looking prepubescent, Maisie admitted she was ‘ashamed’ and felt ‘horrible’. She explained: ‘Around season two or three my body started to mature and I started to become a woman, but Arya was still very much like trying to be disguised as a boy.

‘I had to have really short hair and they’d constantly cover me in dirt sand shade my nose so it looked really broad and I looked really manly… They’d also put this strap across my chest to flatten any growth that had started and that just felt horrible for six months of the year, and I felt kind of ashamed for a while.

‘In this new phase of my style it’s nice to look more feminine and have a real waistline, and you know embrace the body that I have’.
