We have some amazing news for Game of Thrones fans as HBO has finally announced the official premiere date of House of the Dragon prequel, along with a poster of a glowing golden egg and more photos from the first season. The first season will air on 21st August and that’s barely 5 months away, so get ready to experience the Game of Thrones universe once again!
The prequel will be set 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones, and focuses on the Targaryen Civil War – which is known as the Dance of Dragons.

Game of Thrones author George RR Martin recently said on his blog:
“For what it’s worth, those who have read [my novel] Fire & Blood will realise it contains enough materials for a dozen shows.”
“I can say that there will be dragons. Everyone else has said that, so why not me?”

Doctor Who star, Matt Smith will play the lead role of Prince Daemon Targaryen – while King Viserys will be played by Paddy Considine.
Emma D’Arcy, who has starred in Wanderlust, Truth Seekers will be playing Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen who was the king’s first-born child.
